Visit Armidale

A new website for Armidale Tourism to showcase the Armidale region, modernise their digital presence and integrate accomodation listings and community events.

Armidale Regional Council wanted a WordPress website which could be quickly and easily integrated with the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse, and focused on accessibility. In addition they wanted to ensure that the visual elements of the website were “magazine like” and attracted ideal prospects to the region, as well as providing a comprehensive calendar of events in the region.

Our approach

Think

Our team needed to focus on all elements of accessibility and include built-in audio locative technology, while using story and brand elements to make the website attractive and appealing to the various demographics visiting the region. In addition, they needed to ensure that the website could integrate with the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) in order to capitalise on the opportunities provided through this tourism database.

Design

We worked to the established brand guidelines that Visit Armidale had in place, and specifically used photos to appeal to the audience through a magazine-like format. We also showcased stories from the region and implemented design and branding around these stories in our website format.

Finally, we built an Events calendar with a front end form where the community can submit their own events, allowing less time in back-and-forthing with the community in relation to events, while still capturing the important community events and information.

Develop

A design was developed that highlights the region and captures the beauty of the area through distinct photography and story copy, and a user-friendly website that visitors to the region can easily navigate. The final design is easy to navigate and user-friendly while still bringing a stylish element to the website.

Project outcomes

A visually effective, user-friendly website

We continue to work with Armidale Regional Council on several projects to help attract and retain visitors to the Armidale community. Their new website has already attracted countless visitors to the region and has captured the attention of visitors to regional NSW.

Increased community awareness

Businesses and residents of Armidale and surrounding areas are excited to use the website to list and showcase their events, encouraging visitors to “come and see” what Armidale has on offer, all year round.
